School Aid Mission

Equipping children in need for a successful school year.

Along the mountainous DR and Haiti border, an education is one of the surest ways a child can rise out of poverty. But the schools are stretched thin, and families have little to send with their children. Cheerful Heart Mission's School Aid Mission works on both fronts at once. We help improve the schools themselves, and we help equip the students who fill them.

School Aid · Facilities

School Facility Improvement

Most school buildings in Tilori, Haiti go without electricity or running water. Children crowd onto wooden benches, teachers work from worn blackboards, and simple supplies like chalk, erasers, and a pencil sharpener are often missing. Floors are bare dirt, and ceilings leak when the rains come.

Cheerful Heart Mission funds the repairs that change a classroom, from concrete floors and sound ceilings to new blackboards and sturdy desks. And because local craftsmen do the work, every project does double good, improving the place children learn while putting local people to work.

School Aid · Operation Back to School

Operation Back to School in Haiti

Operation Back to School sends students into the new year with supplies of their own. Each backpack holds notebooks, pencils, erasers, rulers, a few snacks, and a card of encouraging Scripture.

Churches, camps, and service organizations partner with us to make it happen. For several years, The Community Church Kids Camp in Kinnelon, New Jersey, has been one of them. One hundred percent of every camp enrollment fee goes toward school supplies, and the campers pack the backpacks alongside their counselors. This past year they prepared 1,200 backpacks, and Cheerful Heart Mission staff and volunteers carried them the rest of the way, hand to hand, to some of the most vulnerable students in the community of Tilori.

Your church, camp, or service organization can host a packing day of its own. We send everything you need and handle the journey to Haiti, then share the photos so you can celebrate God's work together.
